On Friday I had the wonderful opportunity to be apart of the 2014 Step Up Inspiration Awards held at The Beverly Hilton hotel. The awards were hosted by the charity organization “Step Up.” Step Up helps to propel girls from under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women. The awards honored past alumni of the Step Up organization and involved celebrity speakers and presenters, Zoe Saldana and Julie Bowen.
Halston Heritage (where I am a marketing intern) was a sponsor and main contributor to the event. A full-length Halston Heritage fashion show took place during the awards. The process of prepping for this fashion show was something I had never experienced! The hustle and bustle of weeks of preparation came together in one seemingly effortless display of beauty.
The fashion show showcased 41 looks from the Halston Pre Fall 14 collection. The hard work and long hours that built up to the show included model castings, fittings, show production, garment preparation, event set up, promotional materials and much more. As a marketing intern I was lucky enough to have my hand in almost all aspects of the show. The amount of people that it takes to put on such an organized and smoothly running show is astonishing.
My rewarding experience at the Step Up Inspiration Awards/ Halston Heritage fashion show was certainly one for the books. Showcasing beautiful clothing while supporting a good cause… what more could you ask for?
